Your Licence

We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the Application on Apple devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. You may not copy, redistribute, sell, rent, reverse engineer or attempt to derive the source code of the Application, except where that restriction is prohibited by law.

Purchase

Dictation is unlocked by a single purchase. It is not a subscription: nothing renews, there is no recurring charge, and there is nothing to cancel. Future updates and future languages are included at no further cost. Family Sharing is enabled, so members of your Apple Family group can use the Application under the same purchase.

The keyboard's typing features continue to work whether or not you buy. Only dictation depends on the purchase.

All purchases are made through, and processed by, Apple. Current pricing is shown in the App Store and may vary by storefront. Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policies; we cannot issue them ourselves, though we are happy to help you with a problem before you seek one.

What The Application Does, And What It Cannot Promise

Whispy converts speech to text using machine learning models running on your device. Speech recognition is inherently imperfect. Accuracy varies with accent, background noise, microphone quality, subject matter and language, and the Application will sometimes produce text that differs from what you said.

You are responsible for reading what has been written before you rely on it or send it. Do not use the Application as the sole means of producing text where an error would be dangerous or costly — medical, legal, financial or safety-critical contexts among them — without checking the result yourself.

Availability

Some features depend on your device and on the version of iOS it runs. Apple's built-in speech recognition is not available on every iPhone, and which languages and engines the Application can offer therefore varies by device. The Application tells you what it can do on the iPhone you are using. Downloading a speech model requires an internet connection; using the Application afterwards does not.

Third-Party Components

Whispy uses open speech models and open-source software built by others, each under its own licence. These are listed with their licences in the Application, under Settings › About › Acknowledgements. Those licences govern those components; nothing in these terms restricts any right you have under them.

Disclaimer And Liability

The Application is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties not expressly stated here, including implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that the Application will be uninterrupted or error-free.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of your use of the Application is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and if you are a consumer, your statutory rights under Swedish and EU consumer law are unaffected by anything written here.

Changes

We may update these terms as the Application changes. The current version is always the one on this page, with its effective date at the top. Continuing to use the Application after a change means you accept the revised terms.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Sweden. If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections of the law of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
